Manama, June 19 (BNA): Students who succeeded in the local qualifiers of the 10th edition of the Arab Reading Challenge were honored at a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Education.
Education Ministry honours winners of Arab Reading Challenge local qualifiers
Dr. Fawzan Al Khalidi, Director of Programs and Initiatives at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation; Fahad Mohammed Salem Bin Kardous Al Ameri, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Kingdom of Bahrain; and Nawal Ibrahim Al Khater, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Education, attended the ceremony.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, support Bahrain’s strong cooperation, which is reflected in the ministry’s active participation in the initiative, according to Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education.
The Education Minister praised the initiative’s accomplishments since its inception under the direction of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, highlighting its contribution to fostering a reading culture among young people.
Al Khater stated that more than 148,000 pupils from 250 public and private schools participated in this year’s competition as a consequence of the ministry’s efforts to promote participation.
The UAE Ambassador, for his part, stated that the program demonstrates a strong conviction in the value of investing in people and fostering future generations via education and reading.
Bahrain’s participation in the Arab Reading Challenge and the excellent performance of Bahraini students, which demonstrate the Kingdom’s focus on education, were praised by Ambassador Al Ameri.
Suha Hamada, Director-General of School Affairs, thanked the awardees and emphasized the ministry’s initiatives to support culture and reading in all educational settings.
Dr. Fawzan Al Khalidi, for his part, stated that the current edition demonstrated exceptional Bahraini student skills and a strong desire to learn, even among pupils who were determined, demonstrating the effectiveness and ongoing advancement of Bahrain’s educational system.
The top 10 students at the Kingdom level were revealed during the ceremony. First place went to Raneem Murshid Al Darwish of Al Izdihar Primary Girls School, second to Ahmed Hussain Abdullah of Al Khalil bin Ahmad Intermediate Boys School, and third to Batool Al Sayed Dhiya Al Sayed Mohammed of Al Ahliya Private School.
Aisha Ahmed Al Attawi was awarded Distinguished Supervisor at the Kingdom level, Saar Secondary Girls School was given the Distinguished School Award, and Batool Al Sayed Redha Sharaf of Saar Secondary Girls School took first place in the People of Determination category.
A theatrical production by Al Iman Schools (Girls Section) pupils and a short film showcasing participants’ success stories were also included in the program. The Arab Reading Challenge’s final round will take place in Dubai at a later time.
