A number of violations of Law (35) of 2012 on Consumer Protection and its Executive Regulations were found at four food retail outlets as a result of the inspection campaigns, including the failure to display product prices, differences between shelf prices and prices charged at the checkout, and the display of expired products.

The ministry said that the infractions were dealt with right away, requiring the outlets to change their status and taking the appropriate legal action.

In addition to other infractions that the business had previously been informed to correct but neglected to do so, the Inspection Directorate found pricing manipulation offenses at a commercial location in the Southern Governorate. Legal actions, such as the establishment’s administrative closure, have to be taken as a result.

In order to safeguard consumers’ rights and maintain market stability, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce reaffirmed that it will carry out its extensive inspection campaigns throughout the Kingdom, emphasizing that it will not think twice about pursuing legal action against any infractions of the pertinent laws and regulations.

Additionally, the ministry urged customers to report any infractions using WhatsApp at 17111225, the Tawasul National Suggestions and Complaints System, or an email to the Inspection Directorate at Inspection@moic.gov.bh.
