Manama, July 19 (BNA): The executive management of Bahrain Public Transport Company (BPTC) was present when Fatima Abdulla Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, visited the public bus depot.

In order to facilitate the shift to a more sustainable public transportation system, the visit examined everyday operations, operational preparedness, and future plans.
The Undersecretary reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to advancing Bahrain’s public transportation system in order to improve its sustainability, safety, and efficiency while offering dependable services in accordance with global best practices.
Al Dhaen observed that the network’s performance was still improving and that the number of passengers was increasing, which was indicative of the sector’s operational preparedness and dependability. As part of Bahrain’s efforts to create an integrated, eco-friendly transportation system that supports the Kingdom’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2060, she also examined proposals for the introduction of electric buses.
During the visit, the firm presented intentions to implement clean-vehicle technology and switch bus depots to electric operations in accordance with global best practices by utilizing the experience of its UK-based parent company, Mobico Group.
The BPTC’s general manager, Robert Conway, reiterated the company’s dedication to collaborating with the ministry to assist the introduction of electric buses and enhance Bahrain’s public transportation system.
Since 2015, the BPTC has recorded over 113 million passenger rides using its fleet of about 140 buses on 26 routes that serve more than 650 bus stops.
