The council said the ban was imposed under Legislative Decree (20) of 2002 on the Regulation of Fishing, Exploitation and Protection of Marine Resources, in line with decisions adopted by the GCC Agricultural Cooperation Committee to protect kingfish stocks.

The seasonal ban, which ran from August 15 to October 15, aimed to protect kingfish during their breeding season, increase fish stocks, prevent the depletion of fishing grounds and maintain ecological balance in marine life.

The SCE praised fishermen for their cooperation and commitment throughout the ban period, urging everyone to comply with fishing regulations and support ongoing efforts to conserve Bahrain’s marine resources and ensure the sustainability of national fish stocks.
