Manama, June 12 (BNA): Following a long-term renewal of the circuit’s contract with the series, the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) will remain at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) until at least 2036.
Bahrain to host FIA World Endurance Championship until 2036
Since the FIA WEC’s first season in 2012, بيك has been a part of the schedule and has hosted 14 races so far. Additionally, Bahrain has frequently hosted the season’s last race.
The race was first contested for six hours, but it has since been extended to eight hours. The 5.412-kilometer course has speeds close to 300 km/h and up to 54 gear changes every lap.
BIC has held the yearly Rookie Test and end-of-season prize presentation in addition to the racing weekend. The 2027 Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain will be held from November 4–6, while the 2026 race weekend is set for November 5–7.
The Bahrain International Circuit has been a part of the championship schedule for 14 years, and FIA WEC CEO Frédéric Lequien praised the agreement’s renewal.
The new deal, according to Bahrain International Circuit CEO Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, continues the collaboration between FIA WEC and البحرين International Circuit, which started in the championship’s first season in 2012.
