Tunis, Jul. 4 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain’s national Under-18 basketball team have won the Arab Championship for national teams, hosted in the Republic of Tunisia, after defeating the Arab Republic of Egypt 85–73 in the final. At the Arab level, this represents an unprecedented accomplishment for Bahraini basketball.
Bahrain youth basketball team win Arab Championship in Tunisia
Throughout the competition, the team produced excellent technical performances, and they concluded their campaign as best they could to win the title on merit. This achievement demonstrates Bahraini basketball’s ongoing development at the youth level. Following the youth team’s victory in Egypt last year, this is the second Arab championship in Bahraini basketball history. It is a testament to the Bahrain Basketball Association’s (BBA) successful technical vision and continuous commitment in nurturing and honing domestic talent.
The BBA President, Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, emphasized that this title is the outcome of the leadership’s strong support for the sports movement and their ongoing attention, which is evident in the successful outcomes of national teams. Additionally, he praised His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, for his support, his keen interest in basketball, and his careful monitoring of all its activities.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed praised the players’ performance during the competition and expressed gratitude to the technical and administrative personnel for their work in getting the team ready.
