Abu Dhabi, Aug. 5 (BNA): To implement the “One Stop” pre-clearance project for air travelers, the Ministry of Interior’s Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Air Ports Affairs Sector signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
Bahrain, UAE sign MoU to implement ‘One Stop’ air passenger clearance project
Brigadier Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Dossary, Assistant Undersecretary for Ports, Search and Follow-up, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of Bahrain, while Dr. Hamad Saif Al Mashghouni, Executive Director of the Air Ports Affairs Sector at the Federal Authority, signed it on behalf of the United Arab Emirates.
In compliance with the strictest information security and data protection guidelines, the MoU creates an institutional structure for collaboration in carrying out the project and enabling the sharing of travelers‘ pre-clearance data. Additionally, it facilitates the integration of electronic systems, increases the effectiveness of operational processes, and raises the standard of services offered to travelers.
Both parties confirmed that the agreement strengthens collective GCC action, develops border management systems, improves security, and facilitates traveler mobility. It also represents the strong cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
In order to strengthen Gulf integration and develop travel and mobility systems in line with technological advancements while improving the effectiveness of security services, the GCC Ministers of Interior decided to launch the “One Stop” initiative during their 42nd meeting. The MoU was signed in Abu Dhabi to carry out this decision.
Through Bahrain International Airport and Zayed International Airport, the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates formally introduced the “One Stop” project on February 16. By allowing travelers to finish their destination country’s entry requirements before to departure, the program shortens arrival processing times and promotes more efficient passenger flow.
