Manama, April 14 (BNA): A meeting of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) was presided over by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs.

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and First Deputy Chairman of the SCYS, as well as Council members, attended the meeting.
Shaikha Dhuwa bint Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairwoman of the Lamea Association, began the Council’s review of the most recent developments in the national “Lamea” project by summarizing its major accomplishments since its inception in 2021, during which it successfully established itself as a leading national platform for identifying and developing young talent. The program’s quick increase in enrollment and the accomplishments of its members on a local and global scale were also emphasized.
In addition to congratulating the sixth edition of the national project “Lamea” on its inauguration, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad instructed the Authority to expand both domestically and internationally in order to deepen its role in developing exceptional young leaders.
In light of recent developments, the Council reviewed the main indicators pertaining to young people’s sense of security, hope, and confidence as well as the findings of the Hope Index 2025 and the pillars of youth work. In order to promote young people’s psychological and social stability, His Highness instructed the Ministry of Youth Affairs to plan activities and events in the upcoming term that improve the impacted indicators.
The National Strategy for Promoting Health and Quality of Life in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which aims to establish the concept of quality of life as one of the fundamental pillars of national policy by promoting psychological well-being, social cohesion, and the development of health-supportive environments, along with the implementation of programs and initiatives that adopt healthy and sustainable lifestyles, was reviewed by Dr. Jalila bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health.
Maha Abdul Hameed Mufiz, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund “Tamkeen,” also updated the Council on the most recent developments pertaining to the “Furas” program, reviewing its major results since its inception in 2022. There was also discussion of the difficulties in turning training possibilities into long-term employment. It will be the main emphasis of the program’s upgraded version in order to increase its efficacy and promote young Bahrainis’ employment.
Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Jalal, Chairman of the Board of Directors, presented a presentation on the accomplishments of the Academic Excellence Authority, pointing out that its members include prominent national individuals as well as graduates from the best universities in the globe. The development of the “Masari” program, the “Derasat” scholarship initiative, the collaboration project with the University of Cambridge, the creation of the recruitment platform, and the introduction of the new website, which enhances the link between national talent and high-quality opportunities, were all highlighted in the presentation along with the Authority’s most noteworthy events and programs.
The Council praised the Authority’s efforts and instructed it to broaden the scope of its work to include students in a number of nations that are home to universities that are among the top 100 in the world in order to improve academic engagement and link local talent with high-caliber opportunities.
At the end of the meeting, the Council reaffirmed the significance of carrying on with an integrated approach that supports the accomplishment of national goals in a number of areas and enhances the role of youth as important development partners. Additionally, the Council examined recent events and made the necessary judgments about them.
