Manama, April 12 (BNA): The Ministry of Education announced an additional update to these procedures in light of the ongoing evaluation of the development of educational procedures in all public and private educational institutions, as well as in response to the previously announced interim precautionary measures.

Education Ministry announces further update to educational processes

This comes after previous updates that included the introduction of a flexible assessment system for students with international qualifications, the option for early education institutions (nurseries and kindergartens) to resume operations, and the optional resumption of educational services for students with disabilities enrolled in public and private schools, at the parents’ discretion.

In order to maintain the educational process during the current academic year while also accounting for the required flexibility for students and parents, the update broadens to encompass public and private schools as well as higher education institutions.

First, public schools

giving parents and students two ways to finish their education: continuing their education via the remote learning system or attending all public schools in person at all educational levels.

As part of the implementation of this update, parents and pupils will be contacted by educational and administrative organizations in public schools throughout the current week to ascertain, document, and validate preferences between the two possibilities. Additionally, all required instructions will be given to the students. Next Sunday, April 19, is when public schools will resume accepting pupils who choose to attend in person.

Second, private educational institutions

enabling private school administrations to make the right choices, taking into consideration students, parents, and members of the educational and administrative bodies, by either switching to in-person instruction or continuing to run educational processes via the distance learning system, depending on each school’s unique circumstances and capabilities. In the event that such a decision is made, private schools must give the relevant Ministry of Education department the dates on which in-person study procedures can resume.

Third: Institutions of higher learning:

In accordance with academic achievement priorities and course priorities, higher education institutions may resume in-person instruction for all students or implement operational plans that adopt a dual system (in-person and remote), while guaranteeing the resumption of all practical training activities in labs and workshops, or in government or private sector institutions, for all students in person, especially those who are nearing graduation. Higher education institutions will get the required instructions and clarifications in this area from the Higher Education Council’s General Secretariat.

Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Higher Education Council’s Board of Trustees, affirmed that during the previous period, the specialized working teams had studied, developed, and approved educational policies that are in line with the current exceptional stage, achieve the necessary flexibility, and consider students and parents while guaranteeing the continuation of the educational process in accordance with best practices and without any interruption to academic attainment.

He stated that the Higher Education Council and the Ministry of Education will continue to assess educational procedures, make decisions and take action, and, if necessary, establish the relevant rules.

The minister also expressed gratitude to all members of the administrative and educational organizations for their commitment, hard work, and perseverance in effectively carrying out the educational mission. He confirmed that despite the extraordinary conditions, this has been the crucial element in the effective continuation of the educational process with complete efficiency and without interruption.
