The development of the video consultation service at Primary Healthcare Centers, according to the Health Minister, is a significant addition to the healthcare services offered to citizens and residents. In situations where in-person attendance is not required, it also facilitates the acquisition of medical consultations.
According to her, the service will enable more effective use of hospital resources, enhance the patient experience, and help guaranty continuity of care. “Primary Healthcare Centers will continue to develop healthcare services and adopt digital solutions that meet the needs of the community and keep pace with rapid developments in healthcare,” she continued.
The creation of the service is a crucial step in Bahrain’s digital transformation of healthcare services, according to Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA). It illustrates how the government uses contemporary technology to boost the effectiveness and integration of healthcare services and improve the quality of life for locals and citizens.
According to him, the service’s development promotes the digital transformation of government services and is a component of carrying out the Government Plan 2023–2026’s aims. This emphasizes how crucial it is for government agencies to work together and integrate digital and technical solutions in order to improve the healthcare system and other national systems and make them more adaptable, sustainable, and sensitive to the requirements of the general people.
The creation of the service is a significant step in the digital transformation of basic healthcare services, according to Dr. Ejlal Faisal Al Alawi, CEO of basic Healthcare Centers. She pointed out that by reducing traffic and better allocating resources, the service will increase the effectiveness of the healthcare system and lessen the strain on medical facilities.
Primary Healthcare Centers are dedicated to constantly improving their services with the patient at the center of their priorities, according to Dr. Al Alawi. She pointed out that the service ensures continuity of care and makes healthcare services more accessible by responding to the requirements of people and residents and keeping up with global advancements in healthcare delivery.
One of the most recent efforts under the “Choose Your Doctor” program, she continued, is the video consultation service at Primary Health Centers. By enabling direct video communication between patients and their family physician or the team of physicians in charge of their care, it promotes treatment continuity, builds patient-doctor trust, and enhances the standard of care.
Subject to appointment availability, the service will be offered in the morning and evening at all health centers from Sunday through Thursday. Currently, video consultations at Primary Healthcare Centers can be scheduled in person or via the call center at 80007000.
