Before any action was taken against the organizations in question, the ministry gave them a chance to normalize their status and invited them to get in touch with the Civil Society Organizations Support Directorate, update their records, and fulfilll all legal and regulatory requirements.

As a result, a number of organizations got in touch with the ministry and started updating their status and fulfilling their obligations, while another group stayed dormant and unresponsive even after the deadline had passed and they had been given the chance to normalize their position.

The Minister of Social Development, Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, issued Ministerial Decision (57) of 2026 on the mandatory dissolution of a number of associations as part of a batch that includes civil society organizations for which the review processes have been finished. In compliance with the relevant legal and regulatory rules and processes, the status of inactive organizations will be reviewed, and any necessary action against them will be taken.

In compliance with the relevant legal and legislative frameworks, the ministry is taking the required steps to liquidate the associations covered by the decision, making sure that the legal procedures resulting from their dissolution are completed.

By guaranteeing the efficacy of registered organizations and their continuous performance of the roles and objectives for which they were established, the Ministry of Social Development affirmed that these measures reflect its commitment to improving the efficiency and organization of the civil society sector, thereby contributing to the advancement of civil society work and its contribution to social development in the Kingdom.
