Manama, Jan. 31 (BNA): Under the auspices of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the 30th Bahrain Holy Quran Grand Prize preliminary qualifying rounds got underway at the Al Fateh Islamic Center for men and the Qera’at Institute and Preparation of Holy Quran Teachers for women. They were organized by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments.

Judge Shaikh Omar bin Duaij bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the ministry’s assistant undersecretary for Islamic affairs, reported that out of the 5,033 participants in this session, 775 competitors—336 men and 439 women—made it to the preliminary qualifiers.

He pointed out that since the Prize’s inception, more than 50,000 people have entered, demonstrating its solid reputation and extensive national community involvement.

Shaikh Omar bin Duaij emphasized that the Bahrain Holy Quran Grand Prize is one of the Kingdom’s top national projects supporting the Holy Quran, helping to prepare eminent memorizers who have represented Bahrain in international Quranic forums over the course of more than thirty years.

The award has undergone significant changes in recent years, he continued, including the complete digitalization of the registration, participation, and evaluation procedures, the expansion of its categories to include various societal groups, and the implementation of exact judging standards to guarantee openness and equity.

The judging panels are made up of specialized arbitrators who apply comprehensive evaluation criteria that include overall performance, implementation of tajweed regulations, quality of recitation, and accuracy of memorization.
