September 24, Manama (BNA): The new intensive care unit at Salmaniya Medical Complex was opened by Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH).

The unit, which is an addition to the current building, aims to increase the number of beds and intensive care wards while maintaining the best standards of patient care.

In keeping with national initiatives to raise the standard of healthcare, Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah emphasized that the unit’s opening represents continuous efforts to expand healthcare services and strengthen Salmaniya Medical Complex’s capabilities. In response to growing patient demands and Bahrain‘s vision for a sustainable healthcare future, he said, this step is a part of a larger strategy to update the Complex’s infrastructure and expand critical care services.

The new intensive care unit is a qualitative addition to Bahrain’s healthcare system and will increase government hospitals’ capacity to manage critical cases in accordance with international medical standards, according to Dr. Maryam Athbi Al Jalahma, Chief Executive of Government Hospitals. She went on to say that in order to accommodate patient demand and stay up with medical advancements, plans are in place to substantially expand the number of intensive care beds.

The SCH and Government Hospitals’ dedication to improving Bahrain’s healthcare system and providing services that satisfy the highest international standards is shown in the initiative.
