Manama, April 26 (BNA): According to Sahar Rashed Al Mannai, Chief Executive Officer of the Social Insurance Organization (SIO), the organization is working with the Ministry of Labor to pay salaries for April to Bahraini workers who are insured in private sector businesses.
SIO urges employers to register by April 28 to benefit from April salary payments
This comes following the approval by the legislative authority of a law amending Decree-Law No. (78) of 2006 on unemployment insurance, in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the payment of these salaries from the Unemployment Insurance Fund, in support of the private sector, preservation of national workforce, and continuity of economic activity.
The SIO Chief Executive confirmed that the action will strengthen comprehensive social protection for Bahraini workers in the private sector and help to stabilize the labor market.
Al Mannai stated that in order to guarantee that all qualified beneficiaries are covered, companies that want to take advantage of the program must register on the SIO website (www.sio.gov.bh) by April 28 at the latest.
She clarified that insurance data from April 2026 will be used to process wage payments. The SIO will transfer the sums to establishments on April 30 after deducting the applicable monthly payments, within the insured wage cap, and in accordance with approved regulations. Employers will continue to pay wages to employees through the regular procedures.
Al Mannai further stated that the employer’s authorized SIO username and the completion of verification by a one-time password (OTP) issued to registered contact information are prerequisites for registration. If the bank account (IBAN) is connected to the business owner or the commercial registration, employers may also examine, verify, or amend it. When submitting new information, a bank-issued certificate is necessary.
