Education Minister inspects launch of IB assessments in government schools
The examinations involve about 3,000 first-grade pupils from all government intermediate schools in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Dr. Juma spoke with teaching and administrative staff as well as parents at a number of testing facilities, where he examined how pupils were distributed and how exams were administered.
An key step for the Kingdom of Bahrain’s educational system, according to the Education Minister, is the start of the initial evaluation phase that leads to enrollment in the IB program in government schools. He hoped the pupils would succeed in the course.
400 seats, divided equally between boys and girls, are up for grabs. Exams in science and math were given on the first day, followed by an English language test conducted in collaboration with the British Council and interviews. The first cohort of IB students in Bahraini government schools will be chosen from among the top 400 pupils based on their performance.
