Manama, May 13 (BNA): In response to orders from His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, to promote women’s involvement in sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the General Sports Authority announced the establishment of the Women’s Equal Opportunities League at a press conference held at Bahrain National Stadium.

Women’s Equal Opportunities League launched in three sports

The General Sports Authority, the equal opportunities committee in the sports industry, the Supreme Council for Women, the Ministry of Education, the Higher Education Council, and pertinent sports federations collaborate to organize the league.

Football, basketball, and volleyball matches for players over 15 will be held in the league, with eighteen teams competing in each sport.

According to Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, Chief Executive Officer of the General Sports Authority, the program is a reflection of continuous efforts to promote women’s sports and offer an organized setting that promotes involvement and growth.
The league’s identity and logo, the calendar of competitions, and the role of participating sports federations in supporting the project were all examined during the conference.
