Manama, Aug. 10 (BNA): The Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) has created its digital service for processing requests pertaining to the import of chemicals or units as part of continuous government efforts to enhance and re-engineer services.

When chemicals or refrigeration and air conditioning systems are imported without prior authorization, the program allows businesses to submit undertaking requests on a one-time basis. Before considering approval for an unusual release, applicants must submit preliminary information about the imported materials or units so that the appropriate authority can evaluate them and confirm that they include no prohibited or restricted substances.

With complete automation, fewer steps and necessary paperwork, and an enhanced user interface and experience, the service has decreased processing time from twenty working days to seven.

According to SCE Chief Executive Officer Amna Hamad Al Rumaihi, the upgraded service improves regulatory oversight by electronically connecting undertakings to import applications, guaranteeing adherence to environmental regulations, assisting with inspection activities, enhancing data quality, and fortifying adherence to both domestic and international obligations.

She went on to say that while preserving efficient monitoring and data accuracy, the digital revolution has expedited processing and simplified procedures.

More than 1,300 government services have been recorded, translated, and published as part of government initiatives to develop and re-engineer services; 800 services are currently undergoing development and re-engineering in a variety of sectors.
