The service is designed to regulate the transport of samples in line with approved health and veterinary standards, ensure adherence to biosafety regulations and international shipping protocols, fortify animal health security, and minimize the risk of disease transmission across borders.

With the newly developed service, the time taken to issue permits has been cut down to one business day, and the number of steps has been minimized from seven to three, requiring no documentation. Additionally, the initiative aims to decrease the service-level agreement by at least 25%, limit the steps in the application to a maximum of four, fully digitize the service, enhance both the user interface and user experience, streamline processes, and cut the number of required approvals by 25%.

It also involves upgrading current systems, transforming application forms into electronic formats, and standardizing the information related to services across all platforms.

Asim Abdul Latif Abdullah, the Undersecretary for Agriculture and Animal Wealth Affairs at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, stated that the newly developed service allows beneficiaries to electronically submit their applications via Bahrain’s National Portal. The ministry subsequently assesses the application and carries out the necessary processes before providing the permit electronically, helping to save beneficiaries both time and effort.

The undersecretary emphasized the ministry’s dedication to further improving services within the agricultural and veterinary sectors by utilizing digital solutions to streamline procedures, enhance service efficiency, and improve the experience for beneficiaries, all while ensuring adherence to established health and veterinary standards.

Over 1,300 services have been documented, translated, and published as part of continuous government efforts to develop and re-engineer government services; 800 of these services have undergone development and re-engineering across multiple government sectors.

In addition to the adoption of rules and service-level agreements, these innovations were based on suggestions and comments obtained through the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul), investor input, and mystery shopper reports assessing government services. The initiatives promote the government’s digital transformation while aiming to enhance beneficiary experience, service quality, and procedural efficiency.
