Dec. 29, Manama (BNA): The Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, today issued Edict (79) of 2025, which amends Article (1) of Decision No. (26) of 2008 regarding fees for the issuance and renewal of work permits and residency permits for the families of foreign workers.

The Labour Minister’s suggestion, the Chairman of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority’s recommendation, and Cabinet approval led to the issuance of the Edict.
Article I
The following is the replacement for Article 1 of Decision No. 26 of 2008:
In addition to the monthly payments for each foreign worker, employers must pay the following fees for each work permit or its renewal, which cover the work permit, entry visa, no-objection certificate, residency permit, return visa, medical examination, and ID card:
The Labour Market Regulatory Authority will collect the annual fee in accordance to the length of the work permit.

Article II
Any clauses that are in disagreement with this decree are eliminated.
Article III
The terms of this edict will be carried out by the Labour Minister, the Chairman of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, and all relevant authorities. It will be published in the Official Gazette and go into effect on January 1st, 2026.
