Nov. 17, Manama (BNA): The 7th Arab Kowat Alrami Championship, which was organized by the Arab Federation of Kowat Alrami (AFKA) in collaboration with the Bahrain Combat Sports Council (BCSC), was won by Bahrain’s national Kowat Alrami squad. Twelve Arab national teams competed in the event, which was held at Khalifa Sports City Hall from November 12 to 16.

With a total of 23 medals—12 gold, 4 silver, and 7 bronze—Bahrain won the tournament. Kuwait came in second with 4 gold, 8 silver, and 4 bronze. With four gold, two silver, and three bronze, Palestine took third place.

His Highness The president of the Bahrain Combat Sports Council and vice president of the General Sports Authority (GSA), Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, praised the national team’s accomplishment and emphasized that it shows how far combat sports have come in the Kingdom.

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of GSA, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), is responsible for this growth, HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed emphasized. His efforts have strengthened Bahrain’s position on regional and international stages.

According to HH Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed, the athletes’, coaches’, and administrative staff’s hard work has paid off. He expressed confidence in the team’s capacity to continue producing noteworthy performances in forthcoming events, adding that their high level of preparation and competitive spirit reflected the success of Bahrain’s athlete development method.

Athletes from Bahrain made an impression in a variety of weight classes. Junior athlete Zayed Ali Al Mousa earned two gold medals in Light Power and Body Power (34.5 KG), while Mujtaba Mohammed won two gold in Light Power and Full Power (under 75 KG).

Husain Ali won gold in Body Power (under 95 kg) and Ammar Jawad Ahmed won bronze in Light Power (under 65 kg), while Mohammed Emaad won gold in Body Power and silver in Light Power (80 kg).

Hussain Ali Dawood performed exceptionally well in the under-70 kg division, claiming first place in Full Power and gold in Light Power in a professional belt fight. Sayed Majeed Alaali finished first in Light Power and third in Body Power in the open weight division.

Sayed Alawi Al Kamil won gold in Body Power and silver in Light Power (Open weight), while Mahmood Jaafar earned two bronze in Light Power and Full Power (Under 70 KG). In Full Power (Under 85 KG), Ali Al Laith received silver.

Among young contestants, Qassim Azhar excelled in the under-55 KG division with a gold in Light Power and a bronze in Body Power, while Jassim Alsabaie won two bronzes (Light Power and Full Power) in the under-65 KG division.

Junior athlete Ali Ahmed Hassan finished Bahrain’s medal total with gold in Light Power and silver in Body Power (Under 50 KG).

Bahrain’s Kowat Alrami national team continues to position itself as one of the top teams in the sport throughout the Arab world and confirms its strong regional presence with this collective triumph.
