October 31, Manama (BNA): With a total of 13 medals—five gold, five silver, and three bronze—the Kingdom of Bahrain finished second among Arab nations in the overall standings of the 3rd Asian Youth Games, which were sponsored by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Athletes from Bahrain excelled in a number of sports, demonstrating the country’s sport’s ongoing growth and expanding influence on the continent.
Bahrain earned five gold medals in mixed martial arts and weightlifting, including three in mixed martial arts and two in weightlifting, demonstrating the effectiveness of organized youth training and ongoing support for athlete growth.
The three bronze medals came from handball, jiu-jitsu, and Muay Thai, all of which demonstrated the talent and tenacity of Bahraini competitors. The silver medals were won in 3×3 basketball, endurance, weightlifting, mixed martial arts, and pencak silat.
After placing second overall and covering the 119-kilometer route in 15 hours, 58 minutes, and 28 seconds, Bahrain’s team won silver in the endurance competition. Throughout a challenging race, the cyclists showed endurance, tactical knowledge, and collaboration.
His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), whose leadership continues to support young athletes and promote sporting excellence, is reflected in these accomplishments.
As the Games came to an end, Bahraini athletes’ performances solidified the Kingdom’s standing as a rising sporting nation and demonstrated the success of its national sports strategy in producing a new generation of athletes who can represent Bahrain with distinction in international competitions.
