October 31, Manama (BNA): The closing ceremony of the third Asian Youth Games, which was sponsored by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at Khalifa Sports City, was attended by His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC).

Senior officials, visitors, and athletes from all over Asia attended the 13-day competition, which was hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad congratulated His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister and Crown Prince, on Bahrain’s successful Games hosting. He praised His Majesty the King’s royal patronage and the support of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, pointing out that their leadership was crucial to the event’s success.

Additionally, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad commended His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the SCYS and Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, for his leadership and commitment to youth and sports, which greatly aided in the Games’ success.

His Highness took delight in the Kingdom’s accomplishment in planning and organizing the continental competition, which united young athletes from all around Asia. According to His Highness, Bahrain’s rising status as a regional sports hub was demonstrated by the Games, which demonstrated the country’s capacity to stage major athletic events to the highest international standards.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad thanked the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) for their continued collaboration and assistance, as well as for their faith in Bahrain’s ability to host the Games. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to sponsors, partners, and supporters from the public and commercial sectors for their efforts, pointing out that these collaborations serve as a successful model for promoting youth development and sports.

His Highness praised the efforts of the volunteers, working teams, and Executive Committee of the Games, pointing out that their unity and teamwork were essential to this accomplishment.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad wished Bahrain’s national teams ongoing success in upcoming tournaments and congratulated them on winning a total of 13 medals, including five gold, five silver, and three bronze.

The national anthem opened the closing ceremony, and then BOC Secretary General Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji and OCA First Vice President Timothy Fok gave speeches.

The Uzbekistan Olympic Committee, which will host the next Games in 2029, received the Games‘ flag. Before the parade of nations and the extinguishing of the Games’ torch, the ceremony included a video showcasing Bahrain’s 2025 edition and a sneak peek at Uzbekistan’s preparations for the next Games.
