October 26, Manama (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), attended a number of competitions at the 3rd Asian Youth Games, which the Kingdom hosted until October 31 at Exhibiton World Bahrain.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad observed the weightlifting contests and awarded medals to the men’s 56-kilogram event winners. His Highness also observed the handball, Taekwondo, e-sports, and Muay Thai tournaments, which included a high level of competition among the young athletes and widespread participation from different Asian countries.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad praised the Games’ significant accomplishments and pointed out that the Kingdom is still a strong contender to host important continental and worldwide sporting events.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad emphasized that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s unwavering support and the careful attention of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, are responsible for the accomplishments thus far.

Additionally, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad praised His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Chairman of the SCYS and His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, for his efforts and support of the sports movement, which has helped to sustain successes on a local and continental level.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad praised the committees’ and volunteers’ expert work, describing it as an example of the country’s talented labor force. “It’s great to see the high-level skills and abilities of the athletes and participating teams,” he continued. “The Games are an important stage for finding and developing talented young people who will become future champions in Olympic sports.”

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed his confidence that Bahrain will continue to write a new chapter of success in the history of the Asian Games and emphasized the ongoing efforts to guarantee an extraordinary experience is delivered for the athletes, delegations, and spectators until the curtain falls on the Games.
