BSA commended by NASA for leading growth in 2025 Space Apps Challenge
The competition was held at the campuses of the University of Bahrain and Bahrain Polytechnic, demonstrating the high level of interest in this international scientific event.
NASA praised the BSA’s professional performance and acknowledged that, out of more than 2,800 organizing centers, including several space agencies and organizations from throughout the world, it was the agency that responded to NASA’s needs the quickest.
NASA’s recognition, according to BSA CEO Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, “reflects the significant efforts made by the agency’s team in preparing and organizing this global competition.” He emphasized how eager they are to represent Bahrain in this global competition and to provide their team with additional training and expertise to help them perform better in their specialized fields. He added that the agency has made significant strides in educating the public about the value of space and its sciences and promised to keep up these initiatives with more vigor each year.
He went on to say that the Space Apps Challenge provides a remarkable chance to combine engineering, current technology, and basic sciences while helping participants build 21st-century abilities. In order to identify creative answers to actual problems facing the space industry, the competition also fosters worldwide collaboration among participating teams. Fifteen space agencies from around the world are working together to host the hackathon.
In collaboration with the Bahrain Society of Engineers as a professional partner and the University of Bahrain and Bahrain Polytechnic as academic partners, the 2025 Space Apps Challenge was held in Bahrain. The Higher Education Council and the Ministry of Education were also invited to collaborate in order to urge their members to take part.
With over 373,000 participants spread over more than 2,800 locations representing 185 nations worldwide, the tournament saw unparalleled global participation, the most since its inception in 2012.
