October 20, Manama (BNA): Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Kingdom of Bahrain hosted the third Asian Youth Games till October 31 and took home its first medal.
Bahrain wins first medal at Asian Youth Games with silver in Pencak Silat
One of the first Bahrainis to earn a medal at the Games, athlete Qasim Abdullah defeated Indonesia’s Habbil Winata to go to the final and win silver in the Pencak Silat 51–55 kg division.
Qasim expressed his pride in winning Bahrain’s first medal of the competition, praising the team’s work under coach Sayed Mahmood Al Juma and hoping the accomplishment would spur more Bahraini athletes to success.
