Manama, Oct. 17 (BNA): The head of Bahrain’s delegation to the 3rd Asian Youth Games, Ahmed Abdulghaffar, stated that the Kingdom is getting ready for a historic and unparalleled involvement in the continental competition, which will take place from October 20 to 31 under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Bahrain delegation targets strong results at 3rd Asian Youth Games
In keeping with the support of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, which is led by His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), he stated that Bahrain will participate in every sport and event on the Games schedule. He praised the technical and organizational arrangements that emphasize Bahrain’s significant contribution to Asian sports.
According to Abdulghaffar, the delegation has started to assign athletes to lodgings and greet participating national teams. The largest delegation in Bahrain’s history will compete in 26 sports, with 204 male and female athletes representing the country. The delegation will consist of 356 persons, including players, coaches, and administrators.
Noting that all national teams have finished preparing for this important tournament, he expressed optimism about getting results that represent Bahrain’s sporting advancement.
In order to guarantee a successful participation, Abdulghaffar praised the Bahrain Olympic Committee’s coordination with national sports federations and provision of comprehensive administrative, technical, and logistical support.
Handball, volleyball, kabaddi, kurash, and pencak silat will be the first sports to compete on October 19. The competition will go through October 31.
He expressed faith in the athletes’ ability to perform well and provide outcomes that will make Bahrain proud in his closing remarks.
