Kuwait, Oct. 8 (BNA): The 29th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Post and Telecommunications was held in the State of Kuwait, with participation from the GCC countries’ ministers of information technology and communications. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, attended the meeting.

In addition to discussing the results of the 31st meeting of the GCC Undersecretaries of Post and Telecommunications, which was held in Doha in September, the meeting examined how the decisions from the committee’s 28th session were being implemented. In order to facilitate digital transformation and economic integration among GCC members, discussions centered on enhancing Gulf cooperation in digital infrastructure, creating postal and logistics services, and sharing knowledge on regulatory policies and cost-cutting measures for shared services.
The minister also attended the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) meeting, where the secretariat of the organization presented important reports and projects on managing cross-border electronic waste, fighting misinformation, and assisting start-ups with model legislative frameworks. Bahrain’s support for the DCO’s ideas and efforts to improve digital collaboration and encourage sustainable development among member states was emphasized during the conference. The organization’s efforts to promote the digital economy and create a cohesive digital ecosystem on a regional and global scale were praised by the participants.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed had a number of bilateral meetings on the margins of the sessions, including one with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah bin Amer Al Swaha. Following up on cooperative projects within the GCC framework, such as digital transformation, telecommunications infrastructure development, and artificial intelligence, they talked about enhancing collaboration between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in the fields of information technology and telecommunications.
Additionally, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed met with the Digital Cooperation Organization’s Secretary General, Deemah Al Yahya. They talked about the organization’s most recent efforts and ways to improve cooperation and share knowledge on emerging technologies and the digital economy. In order to assist upcoming projects and initiatives that encourage digital transformation and sustainable development in member states, both parties emphasized the significance of ongoing collaboration.
