September 22, Manama (BNA): An agreement to create the International Date Observatory in the Kingdom of Bahrain was signed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sarah bint Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Executive Director of the International Dates Council, and Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture.

In attendance was Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain Naif bin Bandar Al Sudairi.
As a trustworthy resource for decision-makers and member nations, the observatory will act as a global center for gathering, evaluating, and disseminating data on the date industry, promoting openness, global trade, and Bahrain’s agricultural legacy.
In order to develop the agricultural sector and solidify Bahrain’s position as a regional and global hub for the date industry, Minister Al Mubarak emphasized that the initiative reflects Bahrain‘s ongoing efforts to implement the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He conveyed gratitude for HRH Princess Sarah bint Bandar’s efforts and the International Date Council’s contribution to the industry’s advancement.
“Holding the observatory in Bahrain is a strategic step to enhance the global stature of dates as a strategic product and to transform the industry into a knowledge-and innovation-driven sector,” HRH Princess Sarah bint Bandar stated. She also praised Bahrain’s growth strategy and encouraging atmosphere, which complement the Council’s objectives to promote global collaboration and the date industry.
The Kingdom’s prestigious regional and global reputation, its function as a center for agricultural innovation, and its capacity to act as a platform for key projects in the global date industry are all highlighted by the decision to host the observatory in Bahrain.
