Manama, Aug. 28 (BNA): The signing of a contract to provide the directorate with 500 smart cameras that are outfitted with the newest technologies to detect traffic violations was a significant step in bolstering discipline and improving road safety, according to Major General Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, Director General of Traffic.

He clarified that the project was a component of the government’s orders, which were spearheaded by Prime Minister and Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to assist the traffic system and modernize its technical infrastructure in accordance with global best practices.
The Director General praised General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of the Interior and Chairman of the Traffic Council, for his direction and direct follow-up, pointing out his desire to improve the traffic system and make a positive difference in controlling traffic flow and safeguarding people and property.
He emphasized that this contemporary method was a component of the successful execution of Royal Decree Law No. (30) of 2025, which was issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and amended some Traffic Law rules. The Director General praised the fact that public knowledge and adherence to traffic regulations have already improved as a result of the decree, which went into effect on August 22 and imposed harsher fines for moving breaches.
In order to protect lives and property and advance a safe and sustainable traffic culture, he reaffirmed that the Traffic Directorate would keep using smart technologies to monitor infractions. This would be aided by increased field enforcement through security and civil patrols as well as the implementation of continuous awareness programs.
