Manama, Aug. 8 (BNA): Major General Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa, Director General of the General Directorate of Traffic, confirmed that road network expansion and infrastructure development projects, which are based on royal directives and implemented by the government, along with improving the traffic system with smart systems and cameras, have a positive effect on traffic safety, lowering traffic infractions and accidents, and safeguarding lives and property.

As part of the plan to develop the traffic system and use contemporary technologies to improve road safety, the Director General of the General Directorate of Traffic explained that the Directorate has finished the first phase of the smart system cameras with the help of the Interior Minister. This strengthens the traffic system and complies with traffic laws and regulations. Performance metrics, he continued, demonstrate a discernible decline in traffic infractions and collisions, demonstrating the success of road development initiatives, the incorporation of intelligent technology, and their beneficial effects on traffic safety.
He praised drivers’ increasing awareness of traffic laws and their dedication to them, which attests to the development of a culture of safe driving and the improvement of road user safety. He stated that the Directorate is still carrying out its plans to improve the traffic system and make use of contemporary technologies, reaffirming that community cooperation is still a crucial component in creating a safe and sustainable traffic environment and that safeguarding people and property is still of utmost importance.
