Manama, June 28 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain vehemently denounced the recent Iranian assault on its territory using a variety of ballistic missiles and drones, characterizing it as a serious escalation that shows Tehran’s actions are neither an isolated incident nor a passing act, but rather a planned course and a systematic pattern of repeated aggression against the Kingdom’s sovereignty and the security of its citizens and residents.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns renewed Iranian attack targeting Bahrain
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its earlier denunciation of the Iranian assault on the Kingdom’s land, emphasizing Tehran’s violation of its obligations and the global agreement represented in UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026). The fresh strike on Sunday, June 28, 2026, it stated, validates the Kingdom’s previous warnings and shows that the Iranian government persists on this route in spite of world censure and the assurances it has made. It emphasized that persistent attacks won’t create a fait accompli or erode Bahrain’s determination or people’s fortitude.
Following Tehran’s pledge under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed on June 17, 2026, to permanently cease military operations and respect the sovereignty of the countries in the region, the ministry claimed that the repeated attacks disprove all justifications and show Tehran’s premeditation. It blamed Tehran alone for breaking its promises and jeopardizing chances for regional stability and de-escalation.
The ministry emphasized that Tehran’s persistent disobedience of the international community necessitates a strong response and urged the UN Security Council to call an urgent meeting and carry out its duties by guaranteeing the execution of Resolution 2817 (2026), stopping the ongoing aggression, and holding those accountable.
In line with the tenet of the Joint Defense Agreement of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, which states that an attack against one member state is an attack against all, the ministry emphasized that the ongoing aggression targets not only the Kingdom of Bahrain but also the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as a whole.
The ministry emphasized the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full and legal right to defend its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity by any measures permitted by international law, highlighting the Kingdom’s gratitude for Gulf unity and shared security. Additionally, it held the Iranian regime entirely accountable for any escalation brought on by its ongoing attacks.
