Muscat, Feb. 5 (BNA): As the third day of the West Asia games came to an end, Bahraini Paralympic competitors continued to turn in impressive performances, taking home many gold in the athletics category as the boccia contests began.
Bahrain athletes win multiple medals on third day of West Asia competitions
Ruba Al Omari took home the gold in the F55 shot put, while Saad Saad took home the gold in the F32 shot put. Maryam Al Humaidi took second place in the F46 javelin, and Yousif Al Jallas took second place in the F57 shot put. Sayed Hussain Ahmed won the F46 shot put, Amal Fardan won the F54 shot put, and Zahra Al Jabouri won the F34 discus.
Boccia tournaments were started, and Bahraini players won a number of them. Sayed Ali Al Wedaei defeated Iraq 9-1 and the United Arab Emirates 5-0. Isa Marjan defeated Oman 17–0 and 7–1, while Nouf Khalifa defeated Oman 4–3. Ali Buqais defeated Oman 9–3, while Ahmed Reman defeated the UAE and Oman back-to-back.
Boccia activities will continue in the days ahead, while athletics competitions came to an end on Wednesday. Competitions for powerlifting are set to start on Friday.
On Friday night, the Bahraini wheelchair basketball team will play the United Arab Emirates in the semifinals, and Isa Marjan and Mishal Buqais will compete exclusively in Bahrain in the boccia final.
