Dec. 29, Manama (BNA): The Ministry of Industry and Commerce reaffirmed its commitment to supervising the execution of Cabinet decisions pertaining to a range of actions meant to improve the financial situation and guarantee the continuation of assistance given to individuals. These projects include creating a system for determining fuel pricing, modifying natural gas rates for businesses and industries, and other government actions promoting economic growth.
Industry Ministry monitors prices to ensure market stability
The Ministry stated that in order to make sure that there are no infractions, like manipulation or unwarranted price increases, its Inspection Directorate will step up monitoring efforts through thorough work plans and increased inspection campaigns and visits throughout Bahrain’s markets and regions, with a special focus on sectors connected to the basic needs of citizens and residents.
The Ministry further stated that all retail establishments and commercial sectors throughout the Kingdom will be inspected.
It emphasized that deterrent measures, such as monetary fines, closures, administrative deregistration, and referral to the Public Prosecution, are included in national legislation.
In order to avoid legal repercussions, the Ministry urged store owners and commercial establishments to abide by the rules and laws governing commercial activity and to refrain from using government initiatives or changes as a justification for unjust price increases or other infractions.
