Dec. 25, Manama (BNA): The 47 housing units of the “Danat Sanad” housing project in the Southern Governorate, which is being carried out by Al Namal Company as part of the projects listed under the Government Land Development Rights Programme, have been fully booked, according to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning. The ministry reported that all of the units were reserved by residents whose housing applications were on the waiting list. These citizens modified their applications to take advantage of one of the ministry’s immediate financing alternatives through the “Tas’heel” and “Tas’heel+” programs.

Since the ministry announced the opening of bookings for the project’s units in conjunction with the Cityscape Bahrain exhibition held last month, Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, stated that the units of the “Danat Sanad” project have seen a strong demand from citizens looking to benefit from housing finance program options. She emphasized that those reservations were made using the Baity real estate platform’s “off-plan sale” option.

The minister emphasized that all applicants are among those whose housing applications are listed under the traditional ownership services category and who wish to convert their housing applications to benefit from housing finance program options through the “Tas’heel” and “Tas’heel+” options, which offer significant flexibility in obtaining suitable housing on an immediate basis, according to the results of the analysis of booking application data for the project.

The capacity of the housing programs offered by the ministry, in collaboration with the private sector, to provide appropriate housing to citizens through flexible and immediate options is demonstrated by the housing applications from 2002 to 2019 that citizens who converted their applications to financing services to book units under the “Danat Sanad” project had, she continued.

According to Minister Al Rumaihi, the demand for booking units under Government Land Development Rights Programme projects and buying them through housing finance program options is a practical response to the goals of the Government Programme 2023–2026, specifically regarding the continuation of policy development to ensure the sustainability of housing services and strengthening partnership with the private sector in a way that contributes to increasing and diversifying housing solutions for citizens and expanding private sector participation. She pointed out that these goals provide the way to attaining the long-term viability of housing service delivery.

She went on to say that the collaboration with the private sector has seen qualitative growth in recent years thanks to more adaptable and effective implementation models, which have enhanced project quality, sped up completion, and expanded the range of housing options accessible to residents. She pointed out that since the ministerial order governing it was issued in November, the “Danat Sanad” project is the first to be scheduled under the off-plan selling mechanism.

The minister clarified that this mechanism is intended to give citizens more options by allowing them to choose and reserve their housing units early on based on approved and clear plans. They will also be able to take advantage of the program’s financing and procedural facilities, from booking through financing procedures to receiving the housing unit upon completion.

She stated that further projects under the Government Land Development Rights Program will be scheduled through the off-plan sale mechanism in the upcoming phase.

At the Danat Sanad project, 67% of construction projects have been completed, compared to 19% of infrastructure projects. With built-up sizes up to 220 square meters, the project is being developed over an area of more than 9,000 square meters. It is anticipated that the project will be finished and given to the recipients in 2026.
