The “Freelancers Support Initiative” will assist Bahrainis registered as job seekers with up to 12 months of experience in obtaining a virtual commercial registration, “Sijili,” with reimbursement for the registration fees, according to Yousif bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, Minister of Legal Affairs and Acting Minister of Labor. To assist them in starting and expanding their freelance enterprises, they will also get monthly incentives of BHD 200 for a period of 12 months, in addition to support for the Social Insurance contributions.
This move, according to Minister Khalaf, is part of a national initiative to increase Bahrainis’ access to the workforce by offering a variety of career options that enable job seekers to invest in their abilities and skills and turn them into profitable ventures. This initiative is also in line with the National Labour Market Plan 2023–2026, which views Bahraini citizens as a crucial pillar of progress and seeks to maintain the growth of the labor market by creating more jobs across a variety of productive sectors and opening up new avenues that support development.
Starting on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, eligible individuals who want to take advantage of this initiative can apply online at https://www.tamkeen.bh/programs/freelance/.
