Nov. 2, Manama (BNA): At the Gateway Gulf Investment Forum 2025 in Bahrain, the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and Eve Air Mobility, a business traded on the New York and São Paulo stock exchanges, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement is to grow the ecosystem of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in the Kingdom and the surrounding area and promote sustainable air mobility alternatives.
Transportation Ministry, Eve Air Mobility sign MoU
The MoU demonstrates Bahrain’s dedication to enhancing its standing as a regional center for aviation innovation and quality, according to Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications. In Bahrain, the Gulf, and throughout the world, he characterized the strategic cooperation as a step toward the realization of safe and sustainable aviation.
The Minister went on to say that working with Eve, a reliable international partner in the development of electric vertical aircraft, highlights Bahrain’s commitment to promoting a sustainable air transportation ecosystem and cultivating an inventive and forward-thinking future.
The goal of the Memorandum of Understanding is to expedite Bahrain’s operational, regulatory, and infrastructure preparation for advanced air mobility operations. It aims to build safe and scalable vertiports, emphasize emission-free and low-noise operations, train national talent, and establish a testbed for novel systems. Commercial operations will start in 2028 after test flights begin in 2027, with intentions to expand to international destinations by 2029.
The MoU, according to Eve Air Mobility CEO Johann Bordais, represents a significant turning point in the company’s efforts to advance sustainable air travel in the Middle East. He emphasized that Eve’s objective of rethinking urban and regional mobility in a safe, effective, and environmentally friendly way is in perfect harmony with Bahrain‘s mission to become a hub for innovation and sustainable transportation.
Bordais emphasized that the partnership will create a solid basis for eVTOL operations, fostering community connections and opening up new business prospects throughout the area.
In order to offer quick travel and distinctive experiences to both locals and tourists, Eve is now investigating luxury and tourist air mobility routes in a number of regional cities, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Istanbul, and Manama.
Eve’s eVTOL aircraft are outfitted with climate-specific technologies, such as sophisticated UV and infrared protection, intelligent air conditioning, and a Lift & Cruise design that reduces the effects of dust and sand, guaranteeing outstanding dependability and comfort even in the most difficult weather.
