Tourism Minister: Bahrain is developing a competitive and sustainable tourism sector

According to a statement from Minister Al Sairafi, World Tourism Day, which takes place on September 27 every year, emphasizes the expanding role that tourism plays in fostering social and economic advancement as well as cross-cultural interaction. Additionally, it offers a chance to expand destinations, services, and experiences in more creative and sustainable ways and to investigate new prospects brought about by the swift changes in the global tourist industry.

“Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism” is this year’s World Tourism Day topic, according to the tourism minister, which highlights the industry’s quick changes brought about by technological advancements. In keeping with the goals of the Tourism Sector Strategy 2022–2026, Bahrain is expanding its usage of cutting-edge technologies and digital transformation in the travel industry.

She emphasized that new technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) are being used by the Ministry of Tourism and Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) in collaboration with the commercial sector to enhance tourism experiences and satisfy visitor needs. In order to enhance service quality and boost the sector’s competitiveness, this involves creating interactive digital platforms to highlight Bahrain’s tourist attractions and destinations and make related services more accessible.

Minister Al Sairafi emphasized that enhancing sustainability in tourism goes hand in hand with keeping up with technology advancements. In addition to building tourism infrastructure, luring investment, and planning and organizing international events, exhibitions, and occasions, this also entails pushing tourism enterprises to embrace creative solutions that enhance resource management and lessen environmental effect. These initiatives will increase the Kingdom’s appeal and broaden its tourism offerings.

Bahrain’s rich cultural and historical legacy, historical monuments, beaches, entertainment venues, and the variety of experiences it offers tourists, according to the tourism minister, create a solid basis for expanding the tourism industry and improving the visitor experience. This will be accomplished while protecting cultural assets and national identity and enhancing their contribution to the growth of tourism.

She emphasized that coordinated efforts and successful partnerships between government agencies, the corporate sector, and the community are necessary to further expand tourism and increase its contribution to the national economy. In support of the objective of a more competitive, diversified, and sustainable tourism industry, she praised those employed in the industry for their efforts to enhance visitor experiences and improve services.
