Manama, April 16 (BNA): Fatima Abdulla Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Postal Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, presided over the ninth virtual meeting of the Board of the GCC Railway Authority as part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Al Dhaen emphasized the significance of the GCC railway project as a strategic endeavor that promotes sustainable development pathways and strengthens Gulf economic unity. In order to accelerate progress and advance to advanced operational stages in accordance with international best practices, she emphasized the significance of ongoing coordination among member states.

By offering safe and effective transportation choices that allow the movement of people and commodities and improve logistical connectivity among GCC nations, the project, she continued, constitutes a crucial pillar in the development of the regional transport system. She pointed out that this enhances the effectiveness of supply chains and supports intra-GCC commerce, highlighting the Kingdom’s desire to successfully contribute to the accomplishment of this crucial initiative and to improve its long-term sustainability.

The discussion covered important issues pertaining to the development of the GCC railway project, such as a review of the results of the Transport Ministers’ meetings and a follow-up on developments concerning the general agreement for connecting GCC nations to the project. Along with updates on the project’s operational strategy, it also examined the implementation and operations progress report.

Along with a variety of organizational issues pertaining to the advancement of its work, the meeting also covered the Authority’s financial elements and quarterly reports.
