September 11, Manama (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Chairman of Bapco Energies and the Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, confirmed that the solar energy project of the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) embodies His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s vision for promoting prosperity and progress and carries out His Majesty’s directives to create a sustainable and innovative future.

His Highness stated that the project benefits from the ongoing backing of Crown Prince and Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa for environmental innovation and renewable energy initiatives.
In front of ministers and other high-ranking officials, His Highness attended the launch of ASRY’s solar energy project, the biggest of its kind in the world for the shipbuilding and ship repair industry, which was carried out in collaboration with Kanoo CleanMax Renewables.
According to His Highness, the initiative demonstrates Bahrain’s efforts to establish a sustainable workplace that fosters innovation and promotes the green economy, while also reaffirming Bahrain’s standing as one of the top nations using cutting-edge renewable energy technologies.
He took satisfaction in the project, saying it shows how national institutions can embrace new ideas and transform them into workable projects that preserve resources, safeguard the environment, and guarantee a better future for coming generations.
According to ASRY Chairman Ayman bin Tawfeeq Almoayed, the project is a strategic and environmental investment that demonstrates ASRY’s commitment to helping the country reach net-zero carbon neutrality and improve energy efficiency.
He continued by saying that the initiative embodies the company’s vision of fusing green innovation with its leadership in industrial marine services, enhancing its reputation as an environmentally and economically responsible organization, bolstering Bahrain’s standing internationally, and advancing its sustainability objectives.
The CEO of ASRY, Dr. Ahmed Al Abri, stated that the company’s strategy places a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility and that ASRY is dedicated to implementing doable projects that promote Bahrain’s green transformation.
He clarified that the solar power plant’s combined capacity is 22 megawatts in the second phase and 22.5 megawatts in the first. In phase one, the output will surpass 36 million kilowatt-hours annually, and upon completion of phase two, it will surpass 71 million kilowatt-hours annually. In addition to optimizing energy use and lowering operational expenses, the initiative will result in yearly savings of over two million US dollars.

The collaboration with ASRY, according to Ali Abdulla Kanoo, Chairman of Kanoo Industrial & Energy, demonstrates trust in Kanoo CleanMax’s knowledge in renewable energy. He emphasized that the project is in complete accord with the Kingdom’s economic and environmental objectives and demonstrates Kanoo CleanMax’s dedication to putting renewable energy solutions into practice, assisting businesses in lowering carbon emissions, and advancing Bahrain’s national sustainability agenda.
