BSA to launch Space Cybersecurity Hackathon 2025
The hackathon, the first of its type in the region and a strategic collaboration with DEF CON, seeks to empower Arab youth and foster creativity. It will happen at Exhibition World Bahrain from November 5–6.
By fusing cybersecurity with space research, the event embodies Bahrain’s innovative ambition of embracing cutting-edge technologies and fostering sustainable growth and scientific advancement. It gives Arab youth between the ages of 18 and 35 the chance to create creative solutions to safeguard space-cyber infrastructure, improve regional and national capacities in space cybersecurity, and interact with practical problems in an exciting competitive setting.
The hackathon, according to NCSC CEO Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, embodies His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s aim to establish Bahrain as a regional center for innovation and excellence in science and technology. Additionally, it conveys the Prime Minister’s and HRH the Crown Prince’s ongoing commitment for developing national talent and providing Bahraini and Arab youth with new opportunities to contribute to the creation of a sustainable, innovative future.
The hackathon is a significant event that reflects the Kingdom’s goal to invest in cutting-edge sciences for security and sustainable development, according to Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, Chief Executive of the BSA. He pointed out that the event is not just a technical competition but also a cutting-edge Arab platform that unites young, innovative minds to create workable answers for global space cybersecurity issues.
According to Dr. Al Aseeri, the BSA is continuing to propel the Kingdom to the forefront of space research and technology under the comprehensive development route headed by His Majesty the King. The initiative emphasizes that investing in young brains is the best way to create a safer, more affluent future, which is in line with the objectives of the government’s work program. In accordance with the directives of Lieutenant-General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor, Royal Guard Commander, and Secretary-General of the Supreme Defence Council (SDC), as well as the goals of the agency’s Board of Directors, which is chaired by Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, the first edition of the hackathon is being held with the intention of strengthening Arab and international cooperation, advancing innovation, and developing national capabilities.
The Arab International Cybersecurity Conference & Exhibition’s Space Cybersecurity Hackathon 2025, which combines technical workshops with innovation competitions to empower youth and improve cybersecurity in crucial fields like space, adds a strategic element to the event.
In order to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and spur innovation in the direction of a more secure and sustainable future in the field of space cybersecurity, the 2025 conference emphasizes its status as a premier Arab platform that brings together decision-makers, specialists, and young talent.
