October 19, Manama (BNA): The CEO of the Bahrain Space Agency (BSA), Mohamed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, attended the 2025 International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Space Sustainability Forum.
BSA participates in ITU Space Sustainability Forum 2025
The involvement demonstrated the Kingdom’s increasing involvement in the global discussion on space security and sustainability as well as its dedication to staying up to date with the most recent advancements in the space industry.
In order to address the most important issues in space sustainability and investigate creative solutions for the future of space-based systems and exploration, the forum—a crucial gathering for regulators, industry executives, policymakers, and space experts—brought together prominent individuals from around the world.
The development of exploration from low Earth orbit (LEO) to the Moon, satellite management, and attaining efficient space situational awareness and spectrum management were the main topics of discussion. These topics are essential for the success of space missions as well as the sustainability and safety of space-based wireless communication systems.
Dr. Al Aseeri emphasized the forum’s strategic value as a venue for strengthening global collaboration and forming alliances with top agencies and organizations in the industry. He cited the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Italian Space Agency (ASI) as an excellent illustration. Attending such meetings also offers the chance to be up to date on the most recent policy and technical advancements in important fields including orbital spectrum use coordination, space traffic management, resource constraints, and space debris mitigation techniques.
He added that by facilitating knowledge sharing and the adoption of international best practices, the forum helps build national capacities and gives Bahraini professionals the ability to influence the international standards and policies that will guide future space operations.
The Agency’s personnel and upcoming projects will greatly benefit from the insights obtained from the conference, according to Dr. Al Aseeri. To get ready for innovative initiatives, efforts will concentrate on increasing capacity in complicated data processing and space risk prediction. In order to ensure efficient mission management and compliance with international standards, these insights will also guide the creation of a thorough national space sustainability policy. In terms of innovation, the BSA will further satellite monitoring technology research and create technical solutions that aid in international space sustainability initiatives.
These initiatives are in line with the BSA’s mission to strengthen Bahrain‘s position as an active participant in the international space community and to localize space sciences and technology in support of the Kingdom’s sustainable development goals.
