Dec. 19, Manama (BNA): The chief executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), Mohamed Ali Al Qaed, praised AWS’s intention to launch Amazon Bedrock, one of the top generative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions globally, in Bahrain. The action supports the Kingdom’s strategic goal of becoming a regional hub for AI and digital transformation, as well as its continuous efforts to bolster its leadership in technology and smart governance.

Al Qaed clarified that the program complies with the strictest privacy and data protection regulations while being in line with Bahrain’s National AI Policy and Economic Vision 2030. “The service will provide safe, ready-to-use models that facilitate the creation of creative generative AI solutions for both public and commercial companies. Al Qaed continued, “These will help increase operational efficiency and improve service quality, especially in Arabic with a high level of accuracy.”
The Chief Executive of iGA further underlined that Amazon Bedrock will be incorporated into Bahrain’s government AWS cloud, providing early access and streamlining the implementation of these cutting-edge features.
Al Qaed emphasized that Amazon Bedrock provides an advanced platform that enables businesses to use the newest generative AI models to create intelligent applications that can analyze data, produce content, and power effective virtual assistants without requiring complicated technical infrastructure.
The company’s worldwide experience in cloud computing and its high standards for security, dependability, and scalability are the driving forces for the iGA’s collaboration with AWS. Al Qaed stated, “This partnership will help accelerate digital transformation, improve service delivery, and support AI-driven innovation in line with leading international practices.”
He emphasized that providing Amazon Bedrock in Bahrain will have a number of significant advantages, such as boosting institutional innovation, enhancing government performance, facilitating better decision-making, and increasing the application of AI in national digital efforts. Additionally, it would demonstrate Bahrain’s dedication to promoting responsible AI use for people, communities, and enterprises and strengthen its position as a regional leader in digital transformation.
“This development will support Bahrain’s digital transformation journey, open new opportunities for innovation across multiple sectors, and enable the iGA Innovation Lab to test and develop new AI models responsibly,” he stated.
