Manama, Sep. 28 (BNA): The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) Chairman, Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, opened a specialized newborn hearing screening clinic at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC).

The occasion was attended by Government Hospitals CEO Dr. Mariam Athbi Al Jalahma.

The clinic’s opening demonstrates Bahrain’s dedication to enhancing pediatric healthcare and making sure that babies receive early detection services in accordance with global best practices. The program is a component of larger initiatives to protect children’s healthy development from the very beginning of their lives.

The clinic will use cutting-edge equipment to enable the early diagnosis of hearing problems, according to Dr. Mariam Khalil Sahwan, Chairperson of the ENT and Maxillofacial Surgery Department. She emphasized that the likelihood of delays in speech, language, and auditory development is decreased by prompt intervention.

According to her, the program is a significant step forward for Bahraini pediatric care, improving the standard of care and guaranteeing that children receive the right care. Additionally, it assists the Kingdom’s efforts to meet its Sustainable Development Goals linked to health.

The clinic’s opening is a part of Government Hospitals‘ continuous efforts to promote healthcare and quality of life in the Kingdom by expanding pediatric services and preventative screening in accordance with international standards.
