The Bahrain Development Bank (BDB), the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), and the Ministry of Industry & Commerce worked together to organize the event.

Leading entrepreneurship experts and seasoned investors served on the event’s judging panel, which included keynote speaker Stephanie Nour, partner at Nuwa Capital; CEO Ronald Daher of AstroLabs; Founder and Partner Hasan Haider of Plus VC; and Associate Director Laith Al Khalili of Mumtalakat.

WeFit is a fitness tech platform that connects users with gyms and trainers and allows instant booking for memberships, classes, and personal training. The participating Bahraini startups ranged in industry, starting with Unlabeled, a mobile app that allows SMEs to create e-commerce websites without technical skills; Jaras, a platform that helps children explore and learn through short educational clips and interactive activities that build skills and encourage movement; and Wajba, a digital platform that allows F&B providers to sell surplus items at discounted prices, reducing food waste while making meals more affordable.

The top two winning teams were declared following the judging panel’s assessment: “Wajba” took first place, while “Jaras” came in second.

“Wajba” founder Ghassan Esfahani expressed the company’s satisfaction at winning first place in the StartUp Bahrain Pitch rounds, which are intended to encourage entrepreneurship and new ventures. He said the accomplishment is a significant step in Wajba’s continued attempts to grow and be successful.

“Jaras” founder Walaa Al Araibi thanked all the organizations that helped make the project a success and emphasized the importance of taking part in the StartUp Bahrain Pitch rounds, pointing out that it provided a chance to network with the entrepreneurial community and discover new growth opportunities.

This assistance is in line with Tamkeen’s strategic priorities for 2025, which include strengthening Bahrainis’ standing and competitiveness in the private sector, giving them the skills they need to advance their careers in the private sector, giving enterprise growth, digitization, and sustainability top priority, and fostering the growth of the ecosystem that surrounds the private sector and labor market.
