November 8, Riyadh (BNA): His Highness Under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), attended the opening ceremony of the Sixth Islamic Solidarity Games on Friday, November 7, in Al Janadriyah.

The ceremony was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar Al Saud, Governor of Riyadh, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal Al Saud, Minister of Sports of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and President of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA), as well as senior Saudi officials, athletes, representatives of international Olympic committees, diplomats, and invited guests.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad congratulated the Saudi Arabian people and leadership on the Games’ excellent launch on this particular occasion. HH emphasized that the Saudi leadership’s dedication to promoting sports in the Arab and Islamic worlds while bolstering unity and solidarity among Islamic nations through sport is reflected in the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the ongoing support of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad praised the opening ceremony’s outstanding planning, which demonstrated Saudi Arabia’s ingenuity and skill in organizing significant international athletic events. He praised the ceremony’s high degree of creative quality and professionalism, which was indicative of the Kingdom’s vast experience in managing sporting events.

HH expressed complete confidence in Saudi Arabia’s capacity to produce a very successful edition of the Games, solidifying both the spirit of brotherhood symbolized by this significant Islamic sporting event and its renowned standing in international sports.

Artistic performances honoring Saudi heritage, unity, and Islamic identity were part of the opening ceremony. During the nations’ procession, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad and the audience welcomed the Bahraini delegation, who were dressed in traditional clothing.
