Manama, Nov. 5 (BNA): A large number of cyclists from the Kingdom of Bahrain, GCC nations, and foreigners residing in the Kingdom participated in the Nasser bin Hamad Cycling Tour for Amateurs. The Bahrain Cycling Association, in collaboration with Faalyat Company, is organizing the event, which is scheduled to conclude on November 8.

Bahraini, GCC, and local cyclists participated enthusiastically in the opening stage, a 6-kilometer individual time trial.

The first stage winners were given awards by Ahmed Al Haj, Head of the Organizing Committee. Abdulaziz Saleh Al Hammari won first place in the Bahraini amateur division, followed by Mohammed Hassan Jawad in second and Mohammed Isa Al Ghais in third.

Al Hammari also won three jerseys: the blue jersey for the under-23 division sponsored by Marassi Galleria, the red jersey for the points leader sponsored by Beyon, and the yellow jersey for the overall leader in the Bahraini amateurs category sponsored by Bapco Energies. Aqeel Thamer, sponsored by Al Salam Bank, won the green jersey for the over-40 division.

Hilal Jaber took first position in the category for GCC riders, Bahrain’s national team, and locals, followed by David Bessey in second and Saeed Salem in third.

Hilal Jaber won the grey jersey for the points division, sponsored by Beyoncé, and the orange jersey as the overall leader, sponsored by Bapco Energies. David Bessey, sponsored by Al Salam Bank, won the pink jersey for the over-40 division, while Mahdi Hassan Jawad, sponsored by Marassi Galleria, won the purple jersey for the under-23 division.

The tour’s second phase will begin at 2:30 pm tomorrow and cover a distance of 65 kilometers in Sakhir.
