Manama, September 14 (BNA): The sea has been the Kingdom of Bahrain’s lifeline and point of contact with the outside world from the beginning of the civilizations that formerly thrived there. It had a significant impact on the local culture and played a pivotal role in the growth of Bahrain’s economic and cultural ties. One of the most significant ways that people have expressed their relationship with the sea is via music, which has developed into a vital component of national identity and collective memory over time. It reflects the history of civilization and its relationship to the environment.

Bahraini music at heart of Expo 2025 Osaka

Through its involvement at Expo 2025 Osaka, the Kingdom of Bahrain is bringing this rich musical legacy to a new international stage today. Its Connecting Seas Pavilion creates an environment that blends innovative and unique design with genuine cultural components.

Through the creations of Bahraini artist and scholar Hassan Hujairi, who displays sound installations throughout the Pavilion that are influenced by traditional Bahraini arts, especially the art of Fjiri, music plays a significant role in the Connecting Seas experience. These works engage audiences and provide fresh perspectives on Bahraini culture when reinterpreted in a modern way. Here, music is not confined to a single piece of art; rather, it is an integral aspect of the Pavilion experience, blending with visual arts, architecture, and cuisine to provide guests with a full view of Bahraini culture. It also emphasizes how the arts—music in particular—can act as a conduit for understanding and communication with a wide range of global audiences.

The Bahrain Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka is still getting ready for the September 18 National Day event, which is being sponsored by Crown Prince and Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Between 17 and 20 diverse cultural programs featuring Bahraini music will be held at the Expo this time, along with live performances that highlight the variety of Bahrain’s musical landscape. Leading Bahraini bands and musicians will perform at the festivities, which will combine traditional and modern musical traditions. Bahraini music interacts with the global Expo audience through its diversity, reaffirming its function as a conduit for intercultural understanding and human connection.
