October 13, Manama (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), visited Bahrain National Stadium to examine the facilities’ readiness and preparations for hosting the Third Asian Youth Games (AYG). Under the auspices of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Kingdom of Bahrain will host the event from October 22–31.

Alongside HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad were His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the GSA’s vice president; His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the BOC’s vice president; GSA CEO Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar; BOC Secretary-General Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji; and Third AYG Executive Committee Chairman Yousef Duaij.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad emphasized that one of the most important elements for the Third AYG’s success is the preparedness of sporting venues and infrastructure.
The athletics track, VIP platform, spectator stands, media platform, athletes’ changing rooms, and all other amenities and services were examined by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad for preparedness.
Noting that athletics is one of the most important sports at the Asian and Olympic Games, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad praised the progress made in getting Bahrain National Stadium ready for the Third AYG and emphasized the significance of finishing the last tasks to guarantee the stadium offers the best possible setting for competition among the representatives of Asian nations.
