Manama, Dec. 14 (BNA): The Art Rotana Resort on Amwaj Islands in Muharraq Governorate will hold the World Camelids Sports (WCS) General Assembly on December 19 and 20 in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Bahrain to host World Camelids Sports General Assembly for first time
His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Chairman of the General Authority for Sports, and First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, expressed his pride in Bahrain’s first-ever hosting of the International Camel Federation’s General Assembly, which drew participation from over 70 nations and demonstrated the Kingdom’s increasing prominence as a major hub for regional and international sporting events in a variety of disciplines.
The hosting of the event, according to HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad, is in line with the directives and vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, with the goal of boosting Bahrain’s visibility on the international sporting map and fortifying collaboration with international sports federations and organizations.
Additionally, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad pointed out that camel racing, which has a rich cultural and historical background in the area, is seeing noticeable organizational and technical advancements. He expressed his delight at the sport’s increasing popularity, which was featured for the first time in the third Asian Youth Games hosted by Bahrain in October, and described the General Assembly as a significant milestone to support the sport’s advancement and develop its regulations and competitions in a way that serves the aspirations of all member countries.
In order to promote and develop the sport both locally and internationally, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed hope that this event will create more opportunities for collaboration between the WCS and the Kingdom.
