October 30, Manama (BNA): At the 3rd Asian Youth Games, which were sponsored by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Bahrain maintained its impressive performance and won two gold medals in weightlifting and a bronze medal in handball, bringing its total medal total to 12.

John Lopez, a weightlifter from Bahrain, won two gold medals in the 94 kg class after lifting 160 kg in the snatch and 186 kg in the clean and jerk. His accomplishments contributed to Bahrain’s expanding weightlifting record, demonstrating the sport’s consistent development and the ongoing support for domestic athletes.
After defeating China 32–28 in the third-place match, Bahrain’s youth handball team added bronze to the medal total. Throughout the entire game, the squad demonstrated excellent tactical discipline and coordination, keeping control. The outcome highlighted Bahrain’s steady presence on the Asian scene and was similar to their bronze in the previous Games.
In other events, Bahrain’s esports squad, which had previously defeated Indonesia, finished fourth in the Rocket League 3×3 competition after a close bronze medal match versus Oman. Following a difficult match against Kanisorn of Thailand, judo participant Ali Abdulrahman withdrew from the 90kg competition.
In beach wrestling, Abdulla Jamal and Aseel Khalid finished their participation in the 70kg and 60kg divisions, while Ali Mahmood won his first match before losing in further rounds. Other Bahraini swimmers did not make it past the preliminary heats, however Miron Boldovskii placed sixth in the 50-meter breaststroke final with a time of 29.12 seconds.
After the handball team won bronze, player Abathar Yateem was proud of the accomplishment and said it was the product of hard effort and cooperation. Even though the team had aimed for gold, his teammate Ahmed Mahmood stated that they were happy with their performance and appreciative of the experience they had learned.
